Podcasting GECKO

A series of discussions with stakeholders on some of the non-technical issues surrounding new mobility.

Automation. Digitisation. Electrification. Apps. Data. The future of urban mobility appears to revolve around technology, and indeed many technological aspects need to be developed and implemented. But it’s not just the technology that’s new. The processes and partnerships needed also take those involved into uncharted territory. And while the technologies may be new, the systems and structures they need to be integrated into have existed for a long time. Clearly technology alone is not enough to ensure improved mobility options in cities.

GECKO will explore some of these issues in a series of conversations with stakeholders that will be recorded and shared in an upcoming series of podcasts.  The discussions will address:

  1. Regulations: How (much)? How tight? Whose responsibility?
  2. The big deal about data: Who has it, who shares it and what is it good for?
  3. The culture clash between municipalities and start-ups: Reconciling different goals, different priorities and different work cultures
  4. New mobility: Which innovations are here to stay? At what point is regulation needed?

The discussions will bring in perspectives from the private and the public sectors as well as academia, associations, and NGOs.

The podcasts will appear in early 2021. Stay tuned!
