On 10 June 2021, GECKO held a webinar on the regulation of drones for last-mile deliveries in jurisdictions across Europe and beyond. The presenters shared their views and priorities in navigating this emerging technology, complemented by a lively discussion among panellists and participants.

Marisa Meta from FIT Consulting presented The GECKO Regulation Monitoring Tool, called the Compliance Map, and showcased regulatory frameworks assessed in the project. Franziska Biermann from the Ministry of Economic Development at the City-State of Hamburg then provided the city perspective, followed by a presentation on the industry perspective from Ken Engelstad, European Aviation Safety Agency.

As with many emerging technologies, the discussion on regulating drones for last-mile deliveries is far from over. We look forward to creating future opportunities for exchange.
